Okay so this one is for all the amateur photographers that need some quick advice to improve their photos!
The rule of thirds!
So you’ve heard it before (or maybe you haven’t) but STICK TO THE RULE OF THIRDS!!
Imagine your photo divided into a grid of three vertical rows and three horizontal rows, by using these rows and intersecting points you can create a photos that is more aesthetically pleasing!
Try these two tips for starters…
1. By placing the focus of a subject on the point (or near to) two intersecting lines you create more tension, energy and interest.
2. Instead of lining up subjects in the center of the image, try and place them closer to the top or bottom guiding line.
This photo illistrates really well the rule of thirds, the flower sits just off to the right/bottom on an intersect of two lines and the lines in the wood illistraight the horizontal rows perfectly.

It’s your subject that you are interested in not the ground, sky or buildings behind them! Where appropriate zoom in close and only get them in the shot.
Watch those lines!Your eye will naturally follow a line in a photograph; using lines correctly you can draw the viewer into your photo!
Look around for interesting lines, curves and diagonals!
One warning though, unless you are trying to be clever with your angles ;) keep your lines level!! I.e. The horizon!!
There is nothing more distracting in a photograph than a cluttered background!
Keep it simple where possible!
One way to do this I mentioned earlier is by zooming into your subject but you might need to change your angle completely! Move around! The world is your oyster!
Don’t blend your subject!No one likes a person with a lamppost coming out of their head!
Be careful where you place your subject, watch carefully what is in the background and position them away from any objects that may seem to “blend” with them in the photograph.
Reflections are your friends!Everyone is trying to create and interesting or arty photograph, an “easy” way to do this is to keep an eye out for reflections and shadows.
They often add depth and character to what might otherwise be a boring photo!
